Crystal Monsters

Posted by PicayuneFarrago - August 3rd, 2020

i already know this game has no presence on this site or in general but i wanna talk about it :P

It's a 2010 DSi-ware Mon game from Gameloft. It was 500 points so like, 5 dollars? i played it on 3DS though.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crystal_Monsters the reviews on this article call it a Pokemon rip off, a default statement for any Mon game nowadays. >:( honestly this game could have benefited from copying more from Pokemon.

The gameplay involves pressing at the right time but it's like, the same for every move, if they even have it. Like they should have gone further with it, at least have different types of moves have different action commands.

but really this game is programmed poorly, sooooo many glaring issues that couldn't take more than a day to fix. defensive moves don't work. anything ending in tab doesn't work. the movement is super janky, simply getting to a save space is a struggle at times. you can use an item to escape the final boss without having to fight it and win. and you can't fully complete the encyclopedia because the game doesn't save after the final boss.

also, there are these supreme monsters you can get by breeding certain monsters, and breeding them will get extreme monsters. if you get even one of these monsters, you win the game

metaphorically speaking

because they are overpowered, in ALL stats, it's kind of ridiculous

anyway this game is really dumb but i beat it twice. i like the monsters. oh yeah and there's a story i guess.
